Overview
The Medical Oncology Group of Australia encourages its members to continue their professional development in oncology.
As of 2010 the Medical Oncology Group of Australia discontinued its Oncology Specific Maintenance of Professional Standards Program (OSMOPS) and recommends all MOGO Fellows do the RACP MyCPD program.
MyCPD, accessible through the CPD page of the RACP Website, is the new continuing professional development (CPD) program for Fellows of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians. This innovative online program is tailored to meet the professional development needs of each participant. The MyCPD program is founded on participants identifying personal professional development needs, planning activities to meet those needs and subsequent reflection on the activities undertaken as part of an ongoing professional development cycle.
The program awards recognition based on continuing education post medical school and advanced training. This continuing education is vital for clinicians to continually improve their care by providing the highest standards of clinical practice and patient care. Like OSMOPS, the MyCPD program is a quality assurance program which can also be utilised beyond the clinic for employment and medical defence.
An important difference to note between the two programs is that MyCPD does not run on a five year cycle but rather is an annual program based on calendar years. It is important that you indicate participation in CPD relevant to your specialty and the best way to do this is to select Medical Oncology under the ‘My Specialty Areas’ tab of the program.
